e.g.
In Spanish, every noun is either masculine or feminine. Unlike in English, where only people are considered to be masculine or feminine. Look up QUESO in the dictionary (wordreference.com) and you will see that it is masculine - can you see where? Similarly SALCHICHA is feminine. Generally, words ending in O are masculine, and those ending in A are feminine. Others you have to know.
HUEVOS are masculine, PAPAS FRITAS are feminine - but these nouns are also plural - eggS and chipS. The video opposite shows how the word THE changes according to masculine, feminine, singular, plural - we say that the word the AGREES with the noun. |
