Las vacaciones en el pasado, en el presente y en le futuro
Countries Adjectives to describe experiences and places Holiday accommodation Weather Describing holiday experiences - putting together previous work on the past, future and present tenses
This translation uses past, present and future tenses. Tackle it bit-by-bit!
During the holidays I often stay in Hong Kong as my parents have to work. However, this year was different. We travelled to South America and visited several countries. It was an amazing experience.
First, we went to Cuba. Cuba is a beautiful island, and a very interesting place because it is a communist society. The buildings are very old and people drive old cars too. Of course, we went to some music concerts as the music and dance are very famous there. We stayed in a very traditional hotel, which was a bit dirty but I liked it a lot.
Then we went to Chile. Chile is an enormous country and there are many things to do. We went to the mountains and then we travelled to the south of the country, where it was very cold - it snowed one night. I loved the spectacular landscapes in Chile.
After visiting Chile, we went to Argentina. We stayed in a luxurious hotel in Buenos Aires, which is a very elegant city. We also went camping in the countryside, where we visited a farm and we saw how the 'gauchos' (Argentinian cowboys) work with the cows.
This was an unforgettable trip! Next year I hope to go to Europe, but I think that my parents are going to have to work all the summer. In the future I am going to return to South America with my friends - I really want to visit the other countries and I intend to visit Machu PIchu, of course.

EXTENSION TIP: You could take a sneaky-peak at another past tense (the imperfecto) that we often use for past descriptions:
ERA (it was). You could also use the pretérito though (fue).
HABÍA (there was/were). You could also use the pretérito though (hubo).
